This apprenticeship is designed for graduates who want to enter the teaching profession through a school-based route while earning a salary. It is particularly suited to those who prefer to train directly in the classroom, gaining real teaching experience alongside academic study, rather than following a traditional university-led PGCE route.

The apprenticeship is fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, which means there is no direct cost to the learner. Non-levy paying employers can also benefit from government co-funding, which covers 95% of the cost.

Assessment takes place through a combination of professional practice evidence, academic assignments, and an End-Point Assessment (EPA). Apprentices will be observed teaching in their school, complete written tasks, and build a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge, skills, and behaviours as a teacher.

On completion, apprentices are awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are ready to begin their career as a fully qualified teacher. With experience, they can progress into roles such as subject leader, SENCO, phase leader, or senior leadership positions, or choose to pursue further postgraduate qualifications such as a Master’s in Education.
