This programme is designed for those who are passionate about working with children and aspire to become qualified primary school teachers. It is ideal for individuals who wish to combine paid, hands-on classroom experience with university-level study, rather than taking a traditional full-time degree route.

The apprenticeship is fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, which means there is no direct cost to the learner. Non-levy paying employers can also benefit from government co-funding, which covers 95% of the cost.

Assessment takes place through a combination of academic assignments, professional practice evidence, and an End-Point Assessment (EPA). Throughout the apprenticeship, learners will build a portfolio demonstrating their teaching skills and knowledge, alongside observations and evaluations carried out in their school setting.

On successful completion, apprentices achieve a degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling them to work as a fully qualified primary school teacher. From there, they can continue to progress within the profession into roles such as subject leader, SENCO, phase leader, or senior leadership positions, or pursue further study at postgraduate level, such as a Master’s in Education.
